Hopeful fans are waiting because this week a new Alien game could be announced. My fingers are even crossed that this new Alien game will be VR supported too.
As we mentioned in a previous article, The Game Awards will be airing on December 6th and host Geoff Keighley has begun teasing about the show. If you didn’t know, The Game Awards always mixes in new annoucments with the prize-giving and earlier this month Keighley tweeted the message “Worlds Will Change” along with a teaser image.
Now you probably think I’m crazy and grasping for straws with an Alien connection, but hear me out. If you look at the font style in the teaser image, it is very closely associated to the Weyland-Yutani logo that is seen in the sci-fi film series, as well as the huge W on the top right corner. Besides that, last week 20th Century Fox trademarked the name Alien: Blackout in relation to a videogame. Not so crazy, now am I?
Back in January 2018 FoxNext, which is a subsidiary of 20th Century Fox, acquired Cold Iron Studios and was reportedly working on a new Alien game. 20th Century Fox has already dabbled in the VR field before, hence why we are keeping our fingers crossed for a VR supported Alien game. Back in January 2018, developers even talked to UploadVR and said they had experience “across mobile, console, PC, and VR.”
With all these clues, it is very possible that a new Alien game is going to be announced soon, maybe even at The Game Awards on December 6th. We still don’t know if the game will have a VR aspect to it but with the experience that 20th Century Fox has, it would make sense. If you remember closely, Oculus did showcase a demo of Alien: Isolation inside the Rift DK2 headset back in the day, but nothing official every came out of it.
