Quanta Computer has developed a 360-degree live VR (virtual reality) streaming add-on camera through cooperation with ImmerVision, a Canada-based developer of immersive optical and imaging technology, and will launch the product at the end of 2016, the Taiwan-based ODM’s chairman Barry Lam said at a shareholders’ meeting on June 24.

The camera has passed ImmerVision Enables 2.0 certification and features a ImmerVision-developed 360-degree x 187-degree panomorph lens, and a Sony-developed 16-megapixel Exmor-HDR image sensor. The camera, through its magnetic back, can be added on any smartphone for users to capture panoramic pictures or video for Wi-Fi-based live streaming onto VR devices or smartphones.

Quanta’s shareholders approved the distribution of a cash dividend per share of NT$3.80 (US$0.117) for 2015, accounting for 82.25% of the corresponding net EPS of NT$4.62.
