Fans can expect a never-before-heard set, virtual pyrotechnics, and zero gravity.
LA-based electronic music trio The Glitch Mob will make their VR debut tomorrow afternoon (5PM PT/8PM ET) when they perform a live 1-hour set on VR social platform Sansar.
According to the ticket page: Be there when the Mob plays every city in a single night in Sansar – complete with a custom set, breathtaking virtual pyrotechnics, and yes: zero gravity! Your chance to not only see them perform live, but to interact with them one-on-one in an out-of-this-world virtual venue that’s unlike anything you could expect from a real life tour.
Tickets are free for registered Sansar users, though space is limited so you’ll want to reserve your spot sooner than later. There’s also a VIP pass that includes a one-on-one VR meet-and-greet with the group; make sure to enter “SPECIAL FAN CODE” during checkout to avoid the semi-outrageous and totally real fee of $9999999.
While tomorrows event will mark the groups first live performance in a virtual space, it’s far from their first time working with VR technology. In June of last year, the electronic music pioneers released a psychedelic VR music experience accompanied by a 20-minute custom mix of their latest album, See Without Eyes. Powered by the social music festival platform TheWaveVR, fans were able to interact with the visually-captivating experience, as well as each other, as they ventured deep into an intergalactic acid trip that blended powerful electronic music with mesmerizing abstract visuals.
The Glitch Mob: Live In Sansar is just the latest in a series of live music performances hosted by the VR social platform. Earlier this month Sansar announced a collaboration with major EDM music label Monstercat to host a series of live performances featuring the labels stacked lineup of electronic musicians.
