This week Brazilian indie studio VRMonkey launched virtual reality (VR) title Viking Days for Oculus Go and Samsung Gear VR. A mini-game Viking simulator mashup, the developer has also confirmed plans to bring the videogame to HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR.
Designed to be a party VR videogame, Viking Days is a series of mini-game challenges that immerse the player in those everyday Viking activities the ancient warriors were known for. Whether that’s throwing axes, forging swords, running from giants, and more.
The designers of Viking Days have ensured gameplay is kept fast and frantic by adding few to no tutorials. After beating a day, you have the chance to play it again, but harder, until your skills get to the limit. So you can challenge your friends against one or more of the 10 mini-games available to see who can survive the most days.
“I was missing a game that was all about having fun, so we did it!,” states Pedro Kayatt, CEO and co-founder of VRMonkey In a statement. “The idea was simple, games are getting more and more complicated, and Virtual Reality is all about having things simple, to immerse yourself in another world and just to enjoy this experience. The concept of playing VR games in parties came after seeing how much fun people have not only playing, but also watching how “crazy” people get when using Virtual Reality.”
Currently available for Oculus Go and Samsung Gear VR for £3.99 USD, VRMonkey plans to release Viking Days on every major VR platform, including HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR. As yet no official date or release window has been confirmed for these other platforms. When VRMonkey reveals further details on Viking Days, VRFocus will let you know.
